Drinks For Detoxing

I’ve tried a number of different detoxifying drink recipes and these are some of my favorites:

Papaya Drink: Blend a small amount (around 200 grams) of green papaya with other fruits and some water in the blender and drink. It is best to drink it first thing in the morning and also throughout the day. It is also useful to eat mostly, or only alkaline forming foods, as this will assist the cleansing process. The person may also take a psyllium shake twice a day and a herbal laxative such as senna to assist th cleansing process.

Pineapple, Ginger and Mint Detox Drink: Take half a pineapple and chop it into slices. 400g of sliced pineapple pieces would suffice. Get a fresh pack of chopped mint leaves. You would also require 5g or 1cm of ginger piece to give the ginger flavor to this recipe. Mix and smash the ingredients mentioned above in a juice extractor. Filter out the juice, stir and serve instantly. Add very small amount of sugar if needed. But its always good and would be effective if its consumed without sugar or salt added.

Kiwi And Grape Fruit Juice Detox Drink: You would need 225g of kiwi fruits and 70g of billeted green grape fruit. Add the kiwi fruit and the green grape fruit. Add 60ml of water to the mixture. Smash them until the mixture becomes smooth. Pour it to a glass and serve fresh.

Orange and Cinnamon Tea detox Drink: You would need 10cm orange rind strips and 2 sticks of cinnamon. Take a saucepan. Add the ingredients mentioned above to the pan. Pour 1 liter of water to this mixture. Boil the mixture for a few minutes. Slow down the heat and boil the mixture for another couple of minutes. Let the mixture not be covered when it boils. Cool, filter and serve instantly.

Lemon Juice, Cayenne and Maple Detox drink: Mix warm water, 2 tbsp. real lemon juice, a pinch of cayenne pepper, 1 tbsp maple syrup to form a drink. It cleanses the liver & kidneys out.

I hope you find something you like and find useful!

What Does WebMD Say About Detoxing?

Set aside a weekend, it’s time for spring cleaning — more accurately, spring cleansing –even though it is already summer. Perfect for the procrastinators among us.

Spring cleansing means detoxifying your body, says Linda Page, ND, PhD, a naturopathic doctor, lecturer, and author of the book Detoxification.

It’s a way to recharge, rejuvenate, and renew, says Page. “Anybody can benefit from a cleansing. The body is coming out of what might be called hibernation. It’s a way you can jump-start your body for a more active life, a healthier life.”

There’s no vacuum or mop needed for this little “housekeeping” ritual. It means drinking juice — a whole lot of juice and little else — which pushes everything thing else out of your system, Page tells WebMD. You get the picture. You’re clearing out all the tubes and pipes, as they say.

But to purists like Chris Strychacz, PhD, a research psychologist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, Calif., fasting means “water only,” he tells WebMD. He’s been fasting for at least 25 years now, an annual weeklong ritual every spring.

“There’s a big difference between fasting and dieting [as Page advocates],” Strychacz says. The effects on the body are quit different, he says.

Detox With Household Items

People do detox for many different reasons. Some people do it to detoxify their body and some people do it to loose weight. Here are some effective ways to detox.

Detox Drinks
Drinking detox drinks are a very effective way to cleanse your insides and get rid of what’s not needed. Here are some recipes for detox drinks.

Lemon and cayenne
Add 4 table spoons of freshly squeezed lemon and half a table spoon of cayenne to 250 ml of water. Drink 5 times a day or more. To get a good effect, drink on an empty stomach.

Sea Salt
Mix half a teaspoon of sea salt in 250ml of warm water. Drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Water Cleanse
Drink only water for 3 days. Avoid doing any activities because you won’t have that much strength. This can be hard to do. But if you try hard enough, it’s easy.

Ginger and Psyllium
Mix 1 teaspoon of both ginger and Psyllium in 250ml of water. Drink immediately.

Papaya
Slice 200 grams of papaya and blend in a blender with 250ml of water. Drink on an empty stomach.

If you are doing detox to loose weight, try having only the detox drinks and very little food such as fruits and vegetables. Do not do any heavy exercises while on detox drinks only because you will get tired from not getting enough food and the usual essentials. Do easy exercises such as walking, hula hooping, yoga and any other minor exercises. If you aren’t doing this detox plan for weight loss, then try eating detox food along side with your detox drink. Here are some examples of detox food.

Breakfast
Breakfast is a very important meal for you to start of your day with. Try fruit salad with low fat yoghurt and a glass of fresh organic orange juice. This is a perfect breakfast meal for people on detox plans. Fruit is full of antioxidants and vitamins.
Another recommended meal for breakfast is oatmeal with warm low fat milk and berries. Choose plain oatmeal, not the sugared kind. Oatmeal is full of fiber and berries have vitamins and antioxidants.

Lunch
Your detox lunch has to be light. Boiled vegetables and cholesterol free butter on toast or a simple salad with lemon and pepper in stead of any salad cream or dressings.

Dinner
Dinner is the only meal where you can have meat. Try steamed vegetables with boiled chicken and pork.
For a seafood lover,
Smoked salmon with balsamic rice is a good choice. If you like beef, Braised beef and salad with a pepper dressing and gravy is a good meal for you.

To keep your body detoxified, try doing these detox plans as often as possible. By doing detox you are taking care of your insides and reducing chances of infections and cancer. Your liver needs to stay with you so do a detox every now and then to look after it. For people who are doing detox for losing weight, following the directions from this article can help and I hope it works for you.

Are You Right For a Detox Diet?

A detox diet is a short-term diet, often 3- to 21 days, focused on removing toxins from the body. Although detoxification is ongoing in the body, toxins and stress prevent us from doing it optimally, which can eventually affect other systems in the body.

A detox diet allows our bodies to focus on self-healing, with the goal being to raise energy levels, stimulate digestive health, clear headaches, remove bloating, improve concentration and mood, avoid getting allergies, regain our natural ability to ward off colds and flu, and prevent premature aging and disease.

Considering the touted benefits, it’s easy to see why a detox diet may appeal to some. Find out whether a detox diet is right for you and if it is, how to get started.

Why You Should Detox

Do I really need to? — Is there a real benefit? — How effective are the treatments on offer? — Are we really suffering from an increase of toxic substances in our bodies?

Breast Cancer in the UK has increased by 80% since the ‘seventies’. Other forms of cancer have also increased significantly. Some of the increase can be explained away by the fact that people live longer and modern living is more stressful, however the increase in cancer can not be explained by these factors alone. Other problems afflicting most developed societies are; an increase in the incidence of dementia, unruly behaviour in children and a loss of sperm count.

These problems are complex and affected by numerous factors, but one undeniable fact is that there is an increase in the uptake of toxins from our diet and the materials we are surrounded by, and that the increased toxic load is responsible for some of the problems affecting us.

Some experts suggests that our liver and kidneys and a glass of water are all we need to eliminate the toxins in our body, well they do an amazingly good job, but it just might be possible to help them along a bit.
